A shovel has a scoop blade and it’s best used to move mud and garden soil. A spade has a flat blade just the thing for cutting sides, rooting and splitting plants. The edge of a spade needs to be retained sharpened for clean and efficient cutting may cause the least amount of damage to plants and they are a simple garden requirement.
A pruning saw is required for trimming trees and large bushes, whilst secateurs are for plants just like roses. Trimming saws possess a slim curved blade that fits between stems or branches and easily cuts them as you move the saw backwards.
A chipping hoe is usually a handy tool for getting rid of small weeds. The Dutch or push-hoe is actually a little bit more user-friendly as the motion required to use it does not jar the neck and shoulder quite so much.
A rake is also a basic requirement for the garden. The robust rake with the level head and sharp steel prongs is needed for smoothing a garden bed and getting out the last of the bumps and weeds. The plastic-type rake is required to gather leaves and grass clippings only.
Gardening tools do not have to be expensive. Flea markets and garage sales can be excellent places to grab fantastic tool bargain.
